THE MOTHER OF ALL EVIL WAKES UP FROM HER SLUMBER IN AN EVENING WITH MY COMATOSE MOTHER, WHICH STOOD FOR FIVE YEARS AS THE MOST AWARDED HORROR SHORT OF ALL TIME.
Dorothy Pritchard thought she had it easy: house sit for the wealthy Poe’s on All Hallow’s Eve while collecting a cool paycheck. That was, until, she was introduced to the Poe’s rotting, comatose mother living upstairs. As the dark of the night comes, and as the approaching storm blacks out the neighborhood, Dorothy soon finds herself on a nightmare ride through hell that she can only beg to be woken up from.
The first narrative fiction film we put together, An Evening with My Comatose Mother was also one of our most beloved and successful. Winning 76 festival and industry awards, critically praised, and playing some of the best genre festivals on the planet, the film was a huge festival short film favorite in 2011 and 2012, and helped open the doors for future works. In essence, the film is what allowed Bohemian Industries to expand into other ventures, and will always be the film that established the foundation that built the production company and its visual style and flare it has become known for since Comatose was released.
Working under a very modest budget, the film would pull out all the stops with quick moving camera work, Hollywood quality special effects that would be features with a spread in Make-up Artist Magazine, and a fun, yet intense, experience. The story itself is the classic babysitter/haunted house/spook show, but with an energy and style that makes it its own.
Comatose Mother would be picked up by Shorts International for distribution, where it hit #6 on the short film best seller list on iTunes its first day of release. It can currently be purchased on iTunes or Amazon Prime, and can be seen on the ShortsHD channel every October.
But remember, no matter what you do… kiss Mother goodnight!
